A few days ago, Apple released iOS 14.5 developer beta 6 that adds some new features and promises to be the most interesting update for iPhone users since iOS 14. When Apple said it would try fixes battery drain and performance reduction issues that have affected some iPhone 11 devices by recalibrating their Pn in the upcoming official iOS 14.5 update.
Specifically, a new feature discovered in iOS 14.5 developer beta 6 called "Battery recalibration system" will be added to the Battery section in the Settings of the iPhone 11 lineup in 2019. iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The new feature will handle situations that occur with iPhones where the battery is draining more than expected or where there is a drop in device performance.
With the official iOS 14.5 update, Apple promises the 2019 iPhone 11 series will be recalibrated with both Maximum battery capacity and Peak performance capability. As Apple claims on its new support page: “iOS 14.5, coming later this spring, includes an update where the battery health reporting system recalibrates the maximum battery capacity and Performance capabilities are highest on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max to address incorrect estimates of battery health reporting for some users. "
Apple says that it uses a set of algorithms to determine the maximum battery capacity. Over time, algorithms are adjusted through an update to give the best estimate of maximum battery capacity. While the battery status data is being updated, you can find the message "Your battery health reporting system is recalibrating Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance Capability. This process may take a few weeks. Learn more ..." in the section. Settings> Battery> Battery Health.
Recalibration of maximum battery capacity and peak performance takes place while users charge their iPhone and can take several weeks to complete. While the process is in progress, the percentage of the displayed iPhone's maximum battery capacity will not change. When the recalibration is complete, the maximum capacity percentage and the highest performance capability will be updated in the user's Battery Health section and the recalibration message will also be deleted. In rare cases, the recalibration may not be successful, Apple will notify the user that a new genuine battery should be replaced for this iPhone.
