A total of eight people, including two firefighters, died in the massive fire at a Shanghai factory owned by Casetek, a supplier to Apple, on Thursday.
The fire at the factory, owned by Shengrui Electronic Technology, is believed to erupt at 1:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, and continued until Friday morning. A total of eight people were trapped in the fire, including two firefighters and six residents, a statement from authorities said on Friday.
Firefighters are believed to have gone missing while conducting an overnight search for people trapped in the factory, the South China Morning Post reported. Eight people were confirmed dead Friday morning.
The entire facility was engulfed in flames during the incident, and required more than 900 firefighters, 123 fire trucks and eight robots to fight the fire.
